Strengthening Rural Nevada – Part 2 (Episode 13)

In part 2 we are joined again by Erik Schoen, the Executive Director of Community Chest serving rural Nevada. Erik tells us about the strength and collaborative network in rural Nevada. We talk about how the pandemic put an exclamation point on what happens when we ignore social connection along with emotional and behavioral health. We discuss the necessity for behavioral and mental health services and ways the model of community health in rural Nevada matches the third world model. Erick also shares how to utilize community to address mental health needs (due to a massive shortage) and what that looks like on a day to day basis.
